Exploratour - Water on Mars
Conclusions
We have presented some of the evidence about running water on the surface of Mars. We showed that running water on Mars is not easy to compare with running water on Earth. In general, Mars seems to be very dry. There is little water in the atmosphere and only a small amount of ice on the surface.
Conclusions about running water on the surface of Mars are that movement of water may have happened primarily by the seeping of groundwater rather than the flowing of streams of water. But the planet still seems to have features which suggest movement of water by powerful forces. And evidence from recent landings on Mars suggest that moving water has definitely been a part of the Martian past.
There is more work to do to understand the Martian water cycle, and future missions to Mars will help us do just that.
